Father Corapi speaks out against Obama Notre Dame appearance

Posted by Matt Yonke (May 8, 2009 at 5:44 pm)

Father John Corapi, of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, has joined the voices speaking out against President Obama’s appearance at Notre Dame.

Listen to this powerful teacher of the Faith as he clearly and concisely outlines the problem with Notre Dame’s scandalous choice and the way forward to repentance and healing.

    1. Father Corapi makes some good statements about our need to stand up for all human lives, including the unborn.

    2. He also aptly and properly criticizes the most pro-abortion president in History, Barack Obama.

    3. But Father seems to indicate that our protests and witnessing for life will not be effective. That is not true. Even if just one voice in the entire universe spoke out for the right to life of every human being, that is worth it.

    Take care.

It is a shame that there is only one issue mentioned… These people never questioned George Bush and his lack of social conscious. The neglect of the poor, sick and starving… I am prolife, but feel Obama will do more for teh social ills in this world than the republican party has done in the last 30 years… There are lots of things the Lord tells us we are responsible for… we are stewards of this planet that george bush raped… This is only one issue for which we must answer to the lord… our collective greed is ignored… each time u over eat while people are starving you sin… you people are living in glass houses and throwing rocks… go help some poor, sick, starving people… build house with habitat… make the world a better place for the children u r trying to save… otherwise you are as most republican pro-lifers, hypocrites…

I’ve watched Father Corapi for years, even as a ‘fallen’ Catholic.
He is an inspirational figure and a mighty speaker………but make NO mistake:
For years he has taken political stands vs. Democrats, even to the point of celebrating Bush’s election decision as arriving on a Holy Day.
His Military background and constant references to Battling evil spread far into the political realm, a world that is as black and white as is the battle of good vs evil.
When the evils of Church abuse are swept aside and those ’sinners’ are described as ones we must forgive, he if full of the Love of Jesus. Where is the fire and outrage about War?The organized resistance about a President who talks about Pro-Life yet does NOTHING to resolve the debate or the numbers of Abortions that need to be reduced and ended.
While Neo-Cons call Obama the ‘Messiah’, where is his voice to express outrage over the missuse of Our Savior’s title for cheap polotical points?
No, Corapi will be satisfied when the violent nature of the few who want our President dead will be permitted to vent.

Thanks for this gteat opprortunity to present our views.

I strongly agree with two of the writers who have complained that sometimes pro-life people are not completely pro-life. We must be consistent in our approach, whether it is abortion, infanticide, euthasaia, war, capital punishment, and the other human issues.

On the other hand, we should not let our faults and failures stop us from protesting what is happening at Notre Dame. The University stands, or at least did, for certain essential positions, which include defending the right to life of every human being, including the unborn babies in the womb and the embryos in the laboratory petri dish. Our brothers and sisters, no matter how small, have a right to life. That is why it is so important to protest, whether in person in South Bend or in other ways, President Obama’s appearance as THE COMMENCEMENT Speaker at Notre Dame.

I have already written my letter to the Honorable President of Notre Dame which finishes by asking for his resignation. You can get a copy of my letter by emailing to meissnerjoseph@hotmail.com

Thank you Father for speaking out against those who refuse to see what is really going on here. President Obama is pro-choice, speaking at a Catholic university, that is pro-life. That is wrong, and everyone who is Catholic and condones this is a hypocrite. Notre Dame should be ashamed for having him speak at their commencement. But to offer him a doctorate degree is outright shameful. Now we know what Notre Dame really wants–pride and glory. How sad. My kids will never go there. What a shame!

I’m sure that the Catholic religion also teaches not to judge and to love all. We voted him as president of our country and his beliefs are his own. He is being honored for what he represents which is the President of our great country, not for what he believes in. If ND would just see him for that because his speech is not about making you stand for his beliefs it is to give words of wisdom to the class of 09. The Catholic religion isn’t perfect and shouldn’t be judging anyone on what they believe in.

I understand the concept of academically observing both sides of an issue. However, giving honor to anyone who embraces the idea that human life, at what ever stage it is in, can and should be eliminated for convienence sake, is WRONG. A country who kills its innocence and defenceless is a country without a future.

I have heard Father Corapi`s speech it is knowledgeable and informative too. But we christians are required individually to play our role to reach out to others.

At the judgement day,God will want to know much have given and not just receive it. Remember keep our heart holy and pray always. Minority christians are suffering in Pakistan,Iraq,Middle East, etc. There much but be real tolerance and respect of faiths and not just words.Words must be put into action, let us glorified our Lord Jesus always.Amen.
