N.D. Protest: How DARE Notre Dame honor Barack Obama.

Chicagoland protest busses filling fast

Posted by Eric Scheidler (May 12, 2009 at 4:33 pm)

ND Protest BusThe busses traveling to South Bend for the protest on May 17 from three locations throughout Chicagoland are filling up fast. In fact, a second bus from the North Side was added at the end of last week, and only a handful of seats remain.

As of this writing, the South Side bus is full, and only a couple of seats are left on the Western Suburbs bus. Pro-lifers from the Chicago area have responded with zeal to the call to take action against the scandalous commencement address by Barack Obama at the University 0f Notre Dame.

You can register for one of the remaining seats on the bus here.

There has always been a question on my mind that I cant seem to get answered. I contacted the Council of Bishops and didnt get a clear answer.

Politicians like Obama feel the government should not be involved in people’s private lives especially on abortion. Some of these choice politicans have never had any direct dealings with abortion. Mothers, wives, mistresses, daughters …no one has had an abortion. Yet because they dont want to government involved, they get criticized.

The Catholic Church is also strongly against capital punishment. If a Catholic governor signs an order to execute someone, that is clear violation of church policy.

The prochoice politican, who never had any connection with abortion personally, gets criticized. But the Catholic governor who signs an order killing someone in the electric chair…no one says a word about that.

    I dont get that

Wanted to pass along this unusual essay from Catholic Online about the ND situation. An unusual perspective.

This could be stopped by anyone from the Superior General/local bishop to the Pope. That leadership will not ACT–but only “courageously” lament the Fr. Jenkins’ obstinancy–is the more profound scandal.

PS - Given two generations of Vatican II fog, Mr. Miller’s confusion concerning capital punishment vis-a-vis the distinction between guilt/innocence is understandable.

Bud, it is no one’s “private, personal decision” to take the life of an innocent unborn baby.

Also, read your Catechism and your question should be answered:

Look at 2267 of the Catechism: “Assuming that the guilty party’s identity and responsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of the Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor.”

Now compare that with 2271: “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.”
